Update log
Sign in with Google, a new checkout, and a hand that looks like a hand
A big day for ScanKit. Your purchases and templates now follow your Google account, the checkout is calmer and clearer, editing starts the moment you pick a tool, and the phone-photo looks got a shadow that finally belongs in a photo. Here is everything, in plain words.
New
Sign in with Google
Sign in once and anything you buy works on every phone and computer you sign in on. No passwords, no IDs to keep. Free downloads still need no account.
Templates on your account
Templates you save while signed in travel with you. The free plan keeps three, a subscription or pass keeps up to 100. Templates you saved in a browser before signing in move over the first time you sign in.
One-time passes
Only need it for one job? Buy a 24-hour pass ($2.99) or a 7-day pass ($3.99). One payment, nothing to cancel, and it simply ends when its time is up. The monthly plan is still there if you do this often.
A tool dock that opens the editor for you
The "Edit page" tab is gone. Pick Select, an eraser, or Sign or write from the new tool dock and the editor opens on its own. When you have changed something, a bright Apply changes button takes you back to the finished look.
A new checkout screen
When your free downloads run out, the plans now sit side by side as cards, with one clear button for the one you pick. It also tells you exactly when your free downloads come back.
Improved
A hand-and-phone shadow that looks real
The old shadow was two rounded shapes, and it showed. The new one is modelled on real photos: the phone is the big shape, the hand wraps its lower part with soft fingers and a thumb, and the wrist narrows before the arm leaves the picture. It now lies on the table in perspective, so it shrinks and turns with the page, with a wide soft edge.
Your templates come first
New templates go to the top of the list, and "My templates" is now the first group in the Preset menu.
Lighter, faster pages
Every picture on the site is now a modern WebP image, with smaller versions for phones. On a phone the home page's pictures dropped from about 1.4 MB to about 170 KB.
Better on phones
In the app, swiping where there is nothing to drag now scrolls the page as you would expect. The story at the top of the home page waits until it is on screen and fully loaded, and its Replay button works on phones.
Fixed
Card payments in PayPal's window
On some browsers, typing a card into PayPal's checkout window cleared the number and showed an error. Our site's security settings were blocking a small part of PayPal's checkout. That is fixed.
One reset time, not two
The note telling you when free downloads come back could switch between two different times. It now counts your connection once and shows one time.
