Acceptable Use Policy
ScanKit gives clean digital documents a scanned or photographed look, and turns photos of documents into clean scans. It exists for people who need to submit their own paperwork in scan form. It must not be used to mislead anyone about what a document is, where it came from or what it says.
What you may do
- Process your own documents, for example a form you filled in that a recipient asks for as a scanned copy.
- Sign your own documents with your own signature.
- Handle documents you are authorised to handle, such as paperwork for your employer, or for someone who has asked you to prepare it for them.
- Clean up a photo of a document you hold into a tidy scan.
What you must not do
You must not use ScanKit, or its output, to:
- forge, alter or fabricate any document or record so that it misstates facts or its origin, including identity documents, receipts, invoices, certificates, medical, academic, court, financial, bank and government documents;
- apply another person's signature or handwriting without their authority, or create a signature or handwriting meant to pass as someone else's, including with the built-in handwriting and signature fonts;
- impersonate a person or organisation;
- deceive a court, employer, insurer, public authority, landlord, lender or any other person or institution;
- evade identity checks, verification, fraud screening or document authenticity checks;
- produce, store or distribute illegal content, or content that infringes others' rights;
- scrape, crawl or reverse engineer the site or app, or try to bypass its payment or free download limits;
- run automated or abusive traffic against the service, or interfere with its operation or security.
The test is simple. If the recipient would feel misled about the document's origin or contents if they knew exactly how you made it, do not do it.
Scanner and device metadata
ScanKit does not add scanner, camera or device details to the files it makes, and it offers no way to fake them. Downloaded PDFs contain only page images. Do not use ScanKit with other tools to create a false record of how, where or when a document was made.
Signatures
The Ink Studio is for your own signature and handwriting, or a signature you are explicitly authorised to apply. ScanKit is not a certified e-signature or legal-validity service. Whether a recipient accepts your document is up to them.
Reporting misuse
If you believe someone is misusing ScanKit, or you have received a document you suspect was made improperly with it, email [email protected]. Include whatever helps us understand the issue. Because files are processed on users' own devices and never reach us, we usually cannot tell who made a particular document.
Enforcement
If we find or reasonably suspect a breach of this policy, we may:
- warn you;
- suspend or restrict access to the service;
- cancel your subscription and end your access, without refund for any remaining paid period;
- cooperate with law enforcement, courts and regulators, and respond to lawful requests for the limited data we hold (see the Privacy Policy).
You remain responsible for what you create and how you use it. This policy is part of our Terms of Service. Questions: [email protected] or our contact page.
